Mathematica’s International Research unit seeks a versatile Researcher to conduct evaluations and research projects in the international health sector. The ideal candidate will have strong analytic and quantitative skills and a minimum of 2 years of experience conducting evaluations and other rigorous research in the international health sector. We are particularly interested in candidates with research experience in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health; nutrition; water, sanitation, and hygiene; systems strengthening; and infectious disease. Individuals who excel in this position have a passion for using data and evidence to drive social change, a talent for conceptual and strategic thinking, and an ability to produce high-quality work in a context of compressed timelines and changing circumstances.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and skills:

- Excellent quantitative analytical skills and a strong understanding of econometric methods
- Experience in the international health sector
- Stellar written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to (1) convey complex technical issues to non-expert audiences and (2) present and share research results in a way that resonates with clients, practitioners, and policymakers
- Ability to travel internationally
- Ability to work well in teams
- Fluency in at least one language in addition to English is preferred

Education and experience:

- PhD (or Master’s degree with equivalent experience) in economics, public health, demography, public policy, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of experience conducting health research in international settings for foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and/or other organizations
- Experience managing or supporting research in LMIC settings is preferred
