Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Blavatnik School of Government is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), a leading research centre in development economics.

The post-holder’s time will be split between independent research and work as co-author on a funded project - a longitudinal study in Nairobi to gather high-frequency data on young people’s job search. Your independent research should focus on behavioural development or labour in developing countries, ideally with some linkages to the Mind and Behaviour Research Group's (MBRG) projects. The postholder will also co-lead the MRBG and have the opportunity to undertake some teaching activities.

The successful candidates will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in economics, public policy or development studies with a focus on development economics or psychology with a quantitative focus. You should have a demonstrated interest in the CSAE’s work, with a track record of internationally excellent publications and experience designing and conducting lab and/or field experiments or research in developing countries. Excellent communication, time management and IT skills, including use of Stata or R and LaTeX, are essential.

This post is fixed-term for two years, with the successful candidate starting on/before 1 October 2022.
