Associate or Assistant Tenure Track Professorship in Political Science with a focus in International Organisation and Governance (IO) (100%)

The University of St.Gallen and its Department of Political Science invite outstanding candidates to apply for a Professorship in Political Science with a focus in International Organisation and Governance (IO). The Department of Political Science is a member of the School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS) and offers excellent research conditions and a stimulating academic environment. Through its collaborations, research centres, and exchange programmes, it maintains a wide international network. The SEPS is committed to acknowledging the plurality of research methods.

We are looking for an excellent scholar with a focus in International Organisation and Governance. The thematic focus is open and may include areas such as digitalisation, environment, conflict, health, migration, or human rights. We would particularly welcome applicants with substantial area expertise beyond Western Europe and North America. Applicants should have a doctorate in political science, a promising research agenda, and a willingness to collaborate on research and teaching with scholars from other fields, notably economics, law, and management. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research at the highest international standards within her or his own field of specialization and to teach in the university’s programmes in International Affairs and Governance in English. The teaching load is 4 hours per week for tenure track Assistant Professors and eight hours per week for Associate Professors. The University's administrative language is German. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge of German, he or she will be expected to acquire a passive knowledge of the language within two years.

We seek candidates per August 1st, 2022 or by mutual agreement.

For further information, please contact Professor Dr. Dirk Lehmkuhl, Chairman of the Appointment Committee and Head of the Political Science Department (facultyposition@unisg.ch) or visit our website on Professorships at HSG.

The application should include a cover letter detailing your research interests, teaching experience and motivation for applying (max. 3 pages), curriculum vitae, publications list, a recent paper that best represents your current research profile, and contact information for two professional references that we may contact if shortlisted for the position. Candidates should submit their application to the President of the University of St.Gallen, Professor Dr. Bernhard Ehrenzeller, online via www.unisg.ch/professorships at the latest by January 3rd 2022.

The University of St.Gallen is strongly committed to promoting equal opportunities and diversity. We specifically encourage women and applicants with backgrounds underrepresented among our current senior faculty to apply.
