NBER’s Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program on Gender in the Economy, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is offering three dissertation fellowships for doctoral students in economics to encourage research on Gender Convergences and Social Norms. Research may focus on developing and / or developed nations.

Each fellowship offers a $30,000 stipend for academic year 2022-2023, $3,000 for research support such as travel expenses, and tuition up to $13,000 for the academic year. Fellows will be expected to participate in the Summer Institute meetings of the NBER Gender in the Economy Study Group.

To be eligible for fellowship support, an applicant must be enrolled as a full-time PhD student at a US or Canadian university. Fellows will be selected based on their potential to make an important contribution to gender issues in the economies of developing and/or developed nations.
