The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva Switzerland,
invites applications for a tenure-track full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Empirical Macroeconomics

The Graduate Institute is offering a tenure-track position in empirical macroeconomics, open to graduating doctoral students or recently graduated postdoctoral researchers. Prior to the start of the position, candidates must have been awarded a PhD in Economics and demonstrate excellence in academic research through completed projects and a promising research agenda.

The successful candidate will teach postgraduate courses in empirical methods and policy-oriented macroeconomics. Courses in empirical methods will include the analysis of big data, machine learning techniques, the application to numerical and textual data sources, and advanced econometric tools with an emphasis on time series and panel analyses. The person will supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Economics. The candidate will also teach courses and supervise master’s dissertations in the Institute’s graduate level programme in International and Development Studies. They may also be called upon to contribute to executive education programmes. The Institute being interdisciplinary, the selected candidate should be interested in interdisciplinary dialogue.

Candidates are required to submit a CV, a job market paper, a research statement, a teaching statement and a cover letter, and three reference letters. Other samples of research work and doctoral coursework transcripts are welcome but not required.

The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired.
