The Economics Area of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, academic year position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are particularly interested in applicants with a research and teaching focus in Applied Microeconomics/Macroeconomics and Econometrics whose empirical research addresses inequality, discrimination, environmental justice, health disparities and related themes. Successful candidates will teach both undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) level classes in econometrics and other field courses of interest, maintain an active research agenda, provide service to the university, and contribute to our community.

Required Qualifications:

A completed Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Economics or a closely related field from an accredited institution awarded by the start of the appointment (Fall 2022)

A strong research record and pipeline with a research agenda that reflects a commitment to questions and topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Commitment to exemplary teaching and the use of inclusive teaching practices that address equity in the classroom

Demonstrated interest in teaching a diverse student population

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required


Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with, teaching, or mentoring diverse groups of students, as well as to candidates who can contribute to fostering diversity of the campus, curriculum, and/or discipline.

First-round interviews will be conducted virtually in January 2022.
