Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics forms an independent part of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) - the most research-intensive business school in the UK (REF2014). With over 40 members of faculty from more than 15 countries, the Department provides an international, collegial and dynamic research environment with a commitment to world-class academic excellence. The Department has a long history of research in Education and Labour Economics and, in recent years, has developed a strong presence in Development and in Health Economics through a collaboration with the Department of Health Research.

The Chair/Senior Lecturer appointment, together with the opening of a lectureship position, aims to further strengthen the academic excellence and reputation of the research group on Labour, Education, Development, and Health Economics, and to extend its research activities. The appointment comes with a decreased teaching load to promote a greater focus on research.

You will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the Department, to maintain a high-quality research agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators as well as contributing to research activity within the Department. This will include taking a leadership role in fundraising for large research grants, including external collaborations.

You should have already established an excellent track record across the fields of Labour, Education, Development, or Health Economics. This should include recent publications in internationally recognised journals, externally funded research collaboration, PhD supervision, success in programme development and curriculum innovation, and experience of administrative duties. Applications from researchers whose work has impact on society, for example through influencing policy or practice, would be very welcome.

The Department pursues an equal-opportunity, family-friendly human resources policy. In line with our policy, we would like to expressly invite applications from qualified persons in all diversity groups and we are able to facilitate applications from dual-career couples since we have other academic positions available.

The appointment will start at a mutually agreed date. To apply for this position, please complete the application on the website of Lancaster University: https://hr-jobs.lancs.ac.uk/Vacancy.aspx?ref=A3577. Please submit a cover letter, a copy of your CV and the names of three referees.

Please direct informal enquiries to Professor Themis Pavlidis (e.pavlidis@lancaster.ac.uk), Head of the Economics Department.
