MITRE has an opportunity for a Senior / Lead Economist to support the growth of our portfolio of economics work across diverse sponsors in the U.S. Government. The position will work in a multidisciplinary environment with a collegial team of applied economists who provide an analytic basis for decision-making in multiple topic areas, including aviation, transportation, international trade, international finance, critical technologies, and climate change.

Expect a team environment with self-motivated, highly trained professionals. This is an applied research environment where tasks are rarely routine and often require novel approaches.

Typical projects for this position include:

Policy assessment.
Cost-benefit analysis.
Custom research using advanced econometric techniques (time series, panel, discrete choice, reduced form causal inference, structural modelling, etc.).
Outstanding communication skills will be used to present research results as actionable / practical solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD/PhD candidate in Economics.
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance are also required.
Demonstrated understanding of advanced econometric techniques.
