Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Investment Company Institute (ICI), the leading global association of mutual funds, ETFs, and other regulated funds, is looking for a Senior Economist to join its team.

Senior Economists identify developing mutual fund and/or exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry issues and produce academic quality research to address those issues. Senior Economists also contribute to policy work, which includes analyzing the economics of regulatory and legislative issues and proposals; contributing to ICI research publications, comment letters, and blogs; monitoring and analyzing economic and financial developments affecting funds, other financial institutions, and financial markets; and reviewing and preparing critiques of economic research relevant to the mutual fund or ETF industries.

If you have a Ph.D. in economics with a concentration in macroeconomics or finance and have at least 7 years of substantial professional experience in analyzing economic, financial, or policy issues relevant to the fund industry, we encourage you to apply. Candidates must also have substantial knowledge of financial institutions and financial markets, practical experience and care working with data (such as that gained through employment with government agencies), and knowledge of econometrics, forecasting techniques as well as economic modeling. Additionally, candidates must have superior analytical skills that can be translated into policy research, the ability to communicate complex issues to a wide range of audiences in verbal and written form, and excellent presentation skills. Knowledge of international economics and international finance a plus.

Researchers at ICI benefit from a wide range of fund industry data sources along with proprietary data collected by ICI from its members, high quality computing resources, highly qualified and motivated research assistants/associates, and seven collaborative Ph.D. colleagues. At ICI, economists with differing viewpoints are encouraged to engage in constructive dialogue with their colleagues in the workplace.

ICI offers competitive pay and excellent benefits that include a comprehensive medical plan, generous 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid leave, commuting subsidies, and tuition reimbursement as well as training and development opportunities. Based in Washington, DC, ICI is conveniently located next to McPherson Square Metro station.

To be considered for the position, apply at www.ici.org/careers and please provide your cover letter, curriculum vitae and/or resume, a recent academic quality research paper, and a non-technical, non-academic writing sample on an economic or financial topic.
