The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis seeks to hire an economist with a strong interest in conducting research related to American Indian and Alaska Native economic development. The Economist will help lead a new CICD data initiative that aims to collect and disseminate a broad range of data useful for Indigenous economics research. As part of that initiative, the Economist will work collaboratively with CICD leaders to help determine priorities for data acquisition, supervise staff as they assemble and process data, write for Federal Reserve publications, and conduct original research using the acquired data. Publication in economics and other social science research journals is encouraged.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field. Strong quantitative research skills are required. In addition, the candidate must be able to convey the key findings and policy relevance of their scholarly research to non-academic audiences. Knowledge of Indian Country economic research, institutions, and economic development issues is preferred.
