Research Scientist, Economics and Policy Research

The Economics and Policy Research Team at Facebook is looking for PhD economists from all subfields with a focus on applied/empirical experience. Individuals on this team perform two roles. First, we provide rigorous empirical research to guide strategic decision-making at the Company. Second, we conduct high quality external-facing research to help guide ongoing policy debates.

Often, our work is done in collaboration with top tier external academic researchers, and we endeavor to publish much of this work in academic journals. Topics studied include digital advertising (paid and organic), consumer welfare, and the many ways in which our multi-sided platform impacts society.

Our team is part of a broader multidisciplinary research group, which means we frequently have opportunities to collaborate with PhD political scientists, sociologists, psychologists, and individuals with PhDs in other disciplines. We leverage on-platform surveys as well as rich behavioral data. Our approach to research is to leverage cutting-edge techniques and the highest quality data to answer the most important questions facing the Company.
