Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Economic Growth Center (EGC) is Yale’s hub for economics research and teaching on issues concerning lower-income economies and advancement of their populations. The EGC is leading, together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the London School of Economics (LSE), and the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), a new initiative to study inequality in Latin America.

Within this context, the EGC is now offering a Post-doctoral Fellowship designed for Latin Americans who are recent graduates of Ph.D. programs in economics focusing on topics in inequality in Latin America. Candidates must have been born in Latin America or have citizenship from a country in Latin America, along with identifying with being Latin American. Fellowships provide an opportunity for new PhD’s to focus on developing a strong research program in a stimulating collegial environment alongside the faculty of EGC and the Department of Economics at Yale University.

Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. prior to the beginning of the fellowship. Resident Fellows are expected to be present in the EGC facilities three full days per week, contribute to EGC research and publications in the area of inequality in Latin America, support and participate in activities related to the Inequality in Latin America Initiative and participate in seminars and conferences at Yale. Resident fellows are strongly urged to reside in the New Haven area.

The Resident Fellowship will last for one year and may start at a time that is mutually agreeable to the fellow and the faculty adviser. Fellows receive a salary of USD 70,000 per year plus Yale benefits, a travel stipend, and office space. The fellowship is funded by the Carlos F. Diaz-Alejandro Memorial Fund, which aims to assist Latin Americans to pursue graduate and postdoctoral work in Economics at Yale.
