Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Agricultural Economics - Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics

The Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics (ARE) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications from qualified individuals to two positions, one open rank (OR; assistant, associate or full professor), the other a tenure-track Assistant Professor (NT). The successful applicant to the open rank position may occupy the recently endowed Rausser Chair of Agricultural Economics.

We seek outstanding scholars with an active research program in one of two areas of interest:

• Agricultural economics (or resources pertinent to agriculture) in developed countries.
• The development and application of new analytical tools to empirical questions relevant to the economics of agriculture and natural resources, including tools from data science or econometrics.

Successful candidates will be expected to inspire our PhD students to pursue research in topics involving new analytical tools or applications in agriculture and natural resources. Candidates with an active research program in agriculture (and resource) economics will be expected to teach courses related to agricultural economics and policy at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. We look for candidates who can take advantage of our location in the Rausser College of Natural Resources, by exhibiting both the ability and interest to engage with other scientists with research interests related to agriculture.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are core values at UC Berkeley and the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. Successful candidates for our faculty positions will demonstrate a commitment to advancing these objectives and values. All applicants are required to submit a statement on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, which will be assessed on the applicant's knowledge, track record, and future plans in this area; applicants can find guidance to write this statement at https://ofew.berkeley.edu/recruitment/contributions-diversity/support-faculty-candidates.

The Department is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside academia.
