The Department of Economics, in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invite applications for a lecturer, associate lecturer or senior lecturer position. The primary teaching assignment will be the Quantitative Business Tools I course, required of all business undergraduates. The course is currently being substantially reimagined, along with the two other required quantitative courses in the business core. Broadly speaking, the list of topics covered in Quantitative Business Tools I includes basic financial mathematics, algebra, and calculus, with applications in business and economics.
As part of the college core curriculum, Quantitative Business Tools I is taught in a large section using a non-traditional blended modality known as REAL—relevant engaged active learning—which incorporates on-line and face-to-face instruction in smaller (though still sizeable) sections. The face-to-face sections employ team-based active learning. The position also entails teaching other undergraduate courses in the Department of Economics or in the MBA program.
