The successful candidate is expected to conduct extension and applied research activities related to state, county, municipal, and school budgets, revenues, and expenses. Specifically, the individual will help state and local government officials and county extension educators understand and project fiscal policy. This may include budget, property tax, income tax, land use, and school funding issues. In addition, the candidate is expected to publish in high-impact peer reviewed journals, to mentor graduate students, and to secure external grant funding around these issues. In addition to primary outreach and applied research activities, the successful candidate will teach about one course per year.

Active participation in undergraduate and graduate education by teaching, mentoring, chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising undergraduate research projects and publishing research results with students is also expected.

The successful candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, business management, economics, public policy, or another closely related field. This is an academic year appointment.
