The Economics Department at Colby College invites applications for one tenure-track position. We are searching for an economist able to participate in teaching an introductory course in environmental and natural resource economics and to provide other core and elective course offerings that contribute to our undergraduate curriculum. We are looking for candidates who can work with us to engage and support students from diverse cultural, demographic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Central Maine with high standards for teaching and research. Our students are motivated, intellectually curious, and easily engaged in the classroom and in independent research. Our department faculty have active research agendas generously supported by the College, including a pre-tenure sabbatical during the fourth year, start-up and travel funds, divisional research grant opportunities, and department funded student research and teaching assistants. The teaching load at Colby is 4.5 courses per year.

Our review of completed applications will begin on November 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. We plan to conduct remote interviews via electronic conferencing to determine a set of finalists for this position. To be considered for an interview your application dossier must include: (i) a cover letter that describes your motivation for applying to Colby, outlines your research agenda, and communicates how a liberal arts environment dedicated to diversity and inclusion aligns with your teaching philosophy; (ii) your curriculum vitae; (iii) three confidential letters of recommendation; (iv) a representative sample of your research; (v) your graduate transcript; and (vi) evidence of classroom teaching effectiveness, including course evaluations if available. Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. prior to September 1, 2022.
