About the opportunity
We are currently looking for an Associate Professor – Level D to be responsible for leading the programme of work in the Centre of Applied Energy Economic Policy Research (CAEEPR). CAEEPR is a recently established applied research centre within Griffith Business School. The Centre reflects Griffith’s excellent track record of successful collaboration with energy providers and distributors in the Australian energy sector
A key focus of CAEEPR is modelling the wholesale electricity market encompassing dispatch outcomes, optimised spot prices, generation and power flows including the impact of renewable energy sources. This role also includes preparing material for CAEEPR industry stakeholders and for publication, and participation in teaching and the supervision of HDR students. Success in this role requires collaboration with the CAEEPR team, the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, and external partners.
This is a full-time, continuing position based at the Nathan campus and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role. Further, you may be required to work on either a temporary or an indefinite basis at any premises, which the University currently has or may subsequently acquire or at any premises at which it may from time to time provide services.

To be successful within this role, you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of electricity market model frameworks including network adequacy, decarbonisation pathways, and renewable energy zones. You have a demonstrated history in energy market policy research using simulation or econometric energy system models. You will have a track record of working with industry stakeholders, a strong record of publications and evidence of developing undergraduate and higher degree research students. In addition, you will contribute to the broader work of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics as well as the CAEEPR team.
Associate Professor (Level D) Base Salary: $144,806 - $159,532 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation $169,423 - $186,653 per annum.
