We are hiring data scientists (economics) to join our Platform Policy and Governance Team at Lazada. As Southeast Asia’s leading eCommerce platform, Lazada is the regional flagship of Alibaba Group and is backed by Alibaba’s best-in-class technology infrastructure. Our team's mission is to design and execute market policies and mechanisms for markets across Southeast Asia and deliver in-depth insights that inform top-level business decisions.

What you'll do:
• Identify problems and champion projects related to platform policy/mechanism design and business expansion
• Use a rich variety of datasets, collaborate with engineers, business leaders and apply academic training to answer complex business questions
• Become a founding member of the Economics PhDs and be one of the first few to approach problems through an economic lens

Who you are:
• Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Statistics, Finance, or related fields
• Trained in one of the following: econometrics, statistics, causal inference, or mechanism design
• Proficient in programming languages
• Experienced in turning real-world data into insights
• Have well-developed self-management skills and a strong sense of ownership
• Candidates with experience working in eCommerce, Technology, Supply Chain, or Retail related fields are strongly encouraged to apply
