Position Overview:
Position title: Director of Research
Percent time: The initial appointment is a full-time position at 100% time.
Anticipated start: Expected start date of July 1, 2021.
Position duration: One-year term with the possibility of renewal, contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent international degree completed at time of application

The Director of Research for the Institute for Business and Social Impact (IBSI) leads research projects of strategic importance to IBSI, advances IBSI’s research and capacity building agenda and oversees policy engagement and dissemination.
The Director of Research will serve as principal investigator on select grants, including leading proposal development and providing intellectual leadership and oversight for funded activities. S/he will track research, program, and policy trends and source ideas for new research and capacity building opportunities from Berkeley Haas and UC Berkeley faculty, collaborators, staff and partners. Working closely with faculty, s/he will design studies, oversee field data collection, develop statistical models, conduct analyses, and publish findings.
To be successful, you will also have:
● Knowledge of relevant technical skills (econometrics, impact evaluation methods, etc.).
● Demonstrated experience in research, focused on development economics
● Experience and demonstrated success with technical grant writing
