The School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership (SCETL) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholar in economic thought and political economy to begin Fall 2021. Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in economics whose research and teaching focuses on the intersection of economic thought and political economy. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, fiscal-year (July 1-June 30) appointment. Renewal is possible on an annual basis contingent on satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and needs of the program.

The successful candidate will be affiliated with the SCETL undergraduate program in civic and economic thought and leadership and will teach courses in political economy, philosophy, politics and economics (PPE), and possibly the history of economic thought, in support of the program. The position carries a 2-2 teaching load. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours per week to participate in the activities of the Center for the Study of Economic Liberty, especially the development of the PPE Certificate for undergraduate students, and the Center’s development of research and programs available to both ASU and the wider community.

Required qualification: candidates must have a Ph.D. in economics, or a field relevant to this position by time of appointment. Candidates must be within five years from receipt of their doctoral degree.
Desired qualifications: evidence of achievement and promise in research and writing in economics, economic thought, and political economy; a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses relevant to political economy and economics via various modes of delivery (ex. classroom, hybrid and online).
