The Economics Department at Colby College invites applications for a one-year visiting position to teach in-person here at our Waterville, Maine campus starting September 1, 2021.

We are searching for an economist able to teach multiple sections of an introductory course in environmental and natural resource economics plus other offerings that contribute to our core and elective course curriculum.

Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Central Maine with high standards for teaching and research. Our students are motivated, intellectually curious, and easily engaged in the classroom and in independent research. Our department faculty have active research agendas generously supported by the College. This position includes a stipend for transitioning to Central Maine plus funding for conference travel. The teaching expectations for the 2021-22 academic year will be five courses spread across two academic semesters with the opportunity to count multiple sections of the same course toward this total load.

Our review of completed applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. We plan to conduct remote interviews via electronic conferencing to determine a set of finalists for this position. To be considered for an interview, your application dossier must include: (i) a cover letter that describes your motivation for applying to Colby; (ii) statement of teaching philosophy that demonstrates commitment to the value of diversity and to inclusive teaching; (iii) your curriculum vitae; and (iv) evidence of classroom teaching effectiveness, including course evaluations if available. Letters of recommendation will be solicited on behalf of the finalists for this position. Candidates with a PhD or ABD in economics are welcome to apply.
