Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship to work with Dr. Marcus Painter in conducting research using big data techniques to study open question in financial economics. This position will be a one-year fellowship – supported by the Sinquefield Center for Applied Economic Research at Saint Louis University – with renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance. To be eligible, candidates must have completed their PhD by summer 2021.

The ideal candidate will have a background in finance or economics with research interests related to FinTech and/or big data analytics in finance. The postdoc will have the opportunity to work with unique geospatial and text data and therefore will ideally have programming experience related to textual analysis or familiarity with studying geospatial or other types of big data. The successful candidate will also have strong econometric, general programming, and writing skills. This is a pure research position – the postdoc will be expected to assist with ongoing faculty projects while making progress towards publication of their own work.
