The University of Zurich invites applications for a 4-year position as post-doctoral researcher at the Political Science Department, with the possibility of collaboration with the Department of Economics. The position allows a large amount of time for independent research with limited teaching obligations for the Political Science Department.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue his/her own research agenda in the field of inequality in developing or emerging economies, broadly understood. Research projects linking inequality or poverty reduction in developing countries to issues of distributive politics, governance and/or reform policies (either within developing countries or through policies of high-income countries that affect lower-income countries) would be of particular interest. The position will be associated with the newly launched University Research Priority Program (URPP) on the topic of “Equality of Opportunity”, and with the research group “Political Economy and Development” (Prof. Katharina Michaelowa). Depending on the profile, the successful candidate will be welcome to collaborate with other researchers in the URPP, e.g. in the research groups on “Applied Economics” (Prof. Dina Pomeranz) and “Comparative Political Economy” (Prof. Silja Häusermann).
