Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management announces, subject to budgetary approval, a one‐ to two-year post‐doctoral fellowship for newly‐graduating PhDs to support the development and implementation of the Vanderbilt Climate Change Prediction Market (VCCPM). The successful candidate will have a background in economics or finance with research interests related to climate change and/or prediction markets. To be eligible, candidates must complete the PhD by summer 2020.

The postdoc will be expected to work with the collaborative project team involving faculty from the Owen Graduate School of Management, Law School and Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt, to launch and administer VCCPM – a new trans-institutional Vanderbilt project to build a unique web-based financial market platform to conduct research on individual beliefs on important social topics such as climate change. In addition, the postdoc will be expected to work with the project team on new research projects, while making progress towards publication of their current work. The strongest candidates will be those whose research interests align closely with the research goals of VCCPM.

The fellowship will begin as soon as possible, with the latest start date in August of 2021. In additional to salary and benefits, postdocs receive an annual allowance for research/conference‐related travel and expenses. In addition, the school provides computers and computer support. During the period of the fellowship, fellows are expected to be in residence (subject to current conditions), work with faculty on research projects, participate in research seminars in the school and teach one course each year or otherwise contribute to the teaching and research mission of the school.

The Owen Graduate School of Management is engaged in graduate and undergraduate management education. It has an enrollment of over 550 students in its MBA, Executive MBA, Americas MBA for Executives, Master of Science in Finance, Masters of Accountancy, Master of Marketing, and Master of Management in Health Care programs. In addition, Owen School faculty members teach in the Vanderbilt University undergraduate business minor. The Owen School enrolls students from all parts of the U.S. and 35 countries. Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt University is an internationally recognized research university with student body of some 12,500 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and approximately 1,430 full-time faculty (excluding faculty employed by the Medical Center), of whom 50 have their primary appointment in the Owen School. The university is situated on a 330-acre campus located a mile and a half south of downtown Nashville.
