The World Justice Project (WJP) is seeking a full-time Director of Data Analytics. The WJP is looking for experienced researchers with the capacity to produce, publish, and communicate innovative, world-class research, with a strong desire to influence a global rule of law policy agenda. Specifically, we are looking to hire an experienced researcher who can lead teams or work independently in collaboration with other researchers to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge research on a wide range of topics related to governance and rule of law. The ideal candidate will be a doctoral or post-doctoral candidate have superior research and analytical skills, have experience with survey research and analysis methods, and possess a deep understanding of the rule of law in global contexts.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this position include:
• Leading and participating in research initiatives in collaboration with departmental and executive management;
• Research, analysis, and operational work related to the production of the WJP's portfolio of global, thematic, and country-specific reports;
• Development of research proposals in partnership with the Chief Research and Development Officers;
• Management of large datasets from different instruments and sources for validation and back-testing of models and algorithms;
• Creating and delivering original data analyses, written summaries, presentations, and reports summarizing the key findings and policy implications of the available data about justice systems around the world.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have completed coursework in statistics and quantitative methods, be comfortable with statistical concepts, and have experience writing and presenting scientific reports. In addition to significant data analysis, a key dimension of this role will be to translate and communicate WJP data into accessible narrative accounts of key findings and their policy implications, thus drawing on a broad range of skills developed in the social sciences.

Required
• PhD in economics, political science, or a similar degree and 2 years of experience; or a MA with 5+ years of experience leading research projects;
• Direct experience working with NGOs, think tanks, research firms, and/or international organizations;
• Significant experience in producing complete data analyses, including project design and development, statistical analysis, data collection, preparation and manipulation, programming, and written reports;
• Strong proficiency in statistical analytic tools such as R, Python, Stata, MATLAB, SPSS, and SQL;
