The Center for Financing, Access and Cost Trends (CFACT) anticipates several openings for Masters and Ph.D. level economists interested in conducting research on the U.S. health care system and building research databases. Openings are expected in the Division of Statistical Research and Methods (DSRM), Division of Research and Modeling (DRM), and Division of Healthcare Data and Analytics.

The successful applicant(s) will join one of these Divisions and work with teams of interdisciplinary researchers to: (1) generate policy-relevant publications in economics, health policy, and health services research journals; (2) contribute to database designs in the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS); the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP); or new innovative databases such as Synthetic Healthcare Data for Research (SyH-DR), Physician and Physician Practice Research Database (3P-RD), and Social Determinants of Health Research Databases (SDoH-RD); and (3) provide technical assistance to Agency stakeholders.

When the positions are posted on the USAJOBS website (https://www.usajobs.gov/), candidates must officially apply through this site. Candidates are strongly encouraged to immediately establish a USAJOBS account and become familiar with this site. Many posting are only open for a week, so please be prepared to apply promptly. In addition, please note that official job titles may be other than economist, such as mathematical statistician or survey statistician. Because many federal jobs have specific education and experience requirements, your application should address these requirements clearly and specifically. Masters and Ph.D. trained economists will have the necessary qualifications for these positions. Interviews will be conducted virtually.

Interested individuals should send an email to Herbert Wong at Herbert.Wong@ahrq.hhs.gov, who will then alert prospective candidates of USAJOBS opportunities as they are posted. AHRQ is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
