Professor David Cutler of Harvard University and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) leads a research project funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) aimed at providing evidence on the impact of integrated health systems on treatments and clinical and economic outcomes. Pending approval from AHRQ, this project will be expanded to incorporate research questions germane to the COVID19 pandemic. To support this work, Dr. Cutler is seeking to hire one full-time Programmer.
Duties:
•Primary (In the CMS’ Virtual Research Data Center):
oProgramming / analysis of Medicare claims data
•Secondary (In the NBER’s server):
oScraping, cleaning, transforming, combining, programming, and analysis of the project’s datasets from CMS, non-governmental proprietary sources, and the public domain
Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, economics, or related quantitative field
•Experience with Medicare claims data
•Proficiency with both SAS and Stata
•Understanding of quantitative analytic techniques
•Familiarity with Unix/Linux based systems
•Attention to compliance with data security and privacy procedures
•Ability to work with and develop research files from large datasets
•Ability to work independently and with researchers in remote locations
Preferred:
•Familiarity with health care system and clinical terms / concepts
