Jinhe Center for Economic Research (JCER) was founded in 1997 by two economists (Yusen Kwoh, Chicago, MA, 1978; Chuntien Hu, Princeton, PhD, 1986) at Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in China. JCER offers B.A, M.A., and PhD. degrees in economics with modern curriculum and teaching materials. Existing faculties consist of 22 resident faculty with Ph.D degree from US, UK, Japan, Australia, Netherland, Korea and over 30 regular visiting professors abroad. Our full-time enrollment is about 250 students, including foreign students from over 16 countries. JCER's regular workshops and seminars provide faculty and students valuable and updated information about recent research.

Our undergraduate students are very competitively selected from other majors after their first year, and almost all of the graduate students are from top universities in mainland China. We believe economics is not only the fundamental knowledge for social sciences, but also the most practical subject for policy and industry. China is at the important stage of sustainable development and aspiration reform, with a large amount of best students willing to learn economics. Therefore, China is the most suitable place for the development of economics. If you have the dream for academic research in economics, join with us. We are also looking for senior professors who can lead or help to lead the strategic development for the JCER’s expansion.

A 4500-acre new campus of XJTU has opened in 2019, which will lead to the fast expansion for economic education both graduate and undergraduate programs, and JCER is planning to hire more faculty members from all over the world in an effort to bolster expanding programs to meet the needs of the future. Faculty positions are available at all level of Assistant, Associate and Full professors. English speakers are also welcome.

As one of the national key universities with over 120 year history, XJTU is traditionally ranked as top 10 in China. Xi’an is the largest industrial and educational hub in North-western China. It is a major tourist destination of the world and designated as the “City of History” by UNESCO. This sophisticated ancient capital is a perfect place for academics and education.
