Full Text of JOE Listing:

Applications are invited for a one-year postdoctoral scholar position at The Pennsylvania State University to work on the Regional Environment and Agriculture Programming (REAP) model. REAP is a partial equilibrium model of the U.S. agricultural sector developed by the USDA Economic Research Service (ERS) and is used to simulate the regional allocation of agricultural resources (land and other inputs, such as fertilizer and water) in response to changes in policy, market, or biophysical conditions. The successful candidate will work with agricultural economists at Penn State, Virginia Tech, and ERS to identify priorities for expanding the modeling capacity of REAP, develop scenarios for investigation with the updated REAP model, run updated versions of the REAP model, analyze REAP model results, and prepare papers and publications based on this work. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team of over 40 scholars on a large, USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)-funded project on agriculture in urbanized landscapes that is using the REAP model.
