The Economics and Policy Research team is looking for applied researchers with expertise in economics, political science, sociology, psychology, government, and other relevant social science disciplines. The most promising candidates in this role will have expertise in quantitative social science research methods and will also demonstrate the communication skills necessary to interface directly with internal and external policymakers as well as company leadership.

Individuals on this team will perform two roles. The first role is to develop and execute on a program of original research on policy-relevant questions for Facebook, including questions directly informative for Facebook’s content policies. This role may also provide opportunities to pursue peer-reviewed publications, as well as to collaborate directly with top tier external researchers. The second role involves working directly with Facebook’s internal policymakers throughout the policy development process to ensure that Facebook’s content policies incorporate relevant research insights.

Research Scientist, Economics and Policy Research Responsibilities
-Develop an original research program that is directly informative of policy decisions
-Conduct original quantitative research for internal and external publication
-Work directly with policymakers to ensure research is integrated into policy development

Minimum Qualifications
-Advanced degree in economics, political science, sociology, psychology, government, or other relevant social science discipline
-Experience with quantitative research methods
-Experience using statistical programming tools

Preferred Qualifications
-Ph.D. in economics, political science, sociology, psychology, government, or other relevant social science discipline
-3+ years relevant work experience in research or academic setting
-Experience working directly with policymakers or other decision makers
