The Beaumont Research Institute (BRI), the research enterprise of Beaumont Health in southeast Michigan, is working with the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) to become a leader in population health research. BRI has existing excellent translational research in cardiology, radiation oncology, orthopedics, infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and urology. The heart of population health research at Beaumont will include a strong quantitative group that includes the program in Population Health Informatics at OUWB. This group will consist of professionals who analyze and translate big health and social determinant data into improvements in health and health care delivery.
As part of this strategic initiative, the BRI invites applications for the position of Research Scientist – Health Economics (Assistant Professor level preferred) whose research interests will complement and expand existing Beaumont research. Potential areas of research include the use of national databases and incorporation with electronic health records, chronic/long-term care and aging, health disparities, maternal/child health, and consumer decision making. The Research Scientist will develop collaborative research with existing Beaumont researchers and maintain their own research.
The Research Scientist – Health Economics is expected to have the following:

• Doctoral degree in economics, health economics, health management and/or policy, health services research or related fields.

• Strong analytic and quantitative skills including econometrics.

• Experience collaborating with medical and/or public health professionals in a multidisciplinary setting.

• Ability to obtain competitive grant funding.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Credentials qualifying for appointment as adjunct faculty at Oakland University
