Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of Alaska Anchorage Department of Economics is searching for a bright creative scholar with interests in applied microeconomics. Emphasis is focused on environmental economics, endogenous risk, infectious disease and bioeconomic modelling. Preference will be given to candidates with strong training in applied microeconomics and bioeconomic modelling. Responsibilities include 1) engaging in high quality research that informs public policy and that leads to publications in top journals and 2) working collaboratively on funded research projects. Salary will be $65,000 per year. Funding is from externally funded grants and is not dependent upon state appropriations. The successful candidate will also receive a generous benefits package, relocation funds, and support for travel. The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop a strong record of research excellence in the areas listed above.
Work collaboratively with PI on existing grants and faculty of the Department of Economics.

Position Details:
Full-time; non-represented, benefits eligible, term-funded (Funding is from external grants and is not dependent upon state appropriations). The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year subject to satisfactory performance.

Qualifications (Required):
• Ph.D. in Economics or closely related field, earned in the last three years from the date of appointment.
• Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills.
• Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively.
• Effective communication skills.

Qualifications (Preferred):
• Stata, R, MATLAB or Mathematica, ArcGIS.
• Strong economic modeling skills.
