The Tax Policy Center (TPC), a joint project of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, provides independent analysis of current and longer-term tax issues and communicates its analysis in a timely and accessible manner. TPC seeks an intellectually curious and creative PhD level (or master's + equivalent experience) researcher with demonstrated expertise in applied microeconomics, econometrics, microsimulation modeling or programming. The ability to model tax legislation and proposals and to write clear, accurate, and timely analyses will be essential. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with policy experts, decision makers and general audiences, have a broad knowledge and understanding of public finance or a related area of applied microeconomics, and a strong interest in the US tax system. This role will contribute to the analysis and modeling of a broad range of tax policies, including those affecting corporations and other businesses. Background in business taxes is a plus. The research associate will also have the opportunity to present their tax policy research findings in professional journals and in academic and professional settings.
