Experienced Research Economists

The Bank of England is looking for highly trained and experienced researchers with the capacity to produce, publish, and communicate innovative, world-class research, with a strong desire to influence the Bank’s future policy agenda.
Our research programme is designed to address the fundamental questions confronting central banks today. We offer a unique experience for researchers interested in these questions because we are one of only a handful of institutions internationally with responsibility for delivering monetary, macroprudential, and microprudential policy.

We are looking to hire experienced research economists who can lead teams of researchers or work independently in collaboration with other researchers to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge research on a wide range of topics relevant to central banking. Currently, we are particularly looking for experts in the following areas: macroeconomics, international economics, financial stability, monetary policy analysis, banking, finance, regulation, econometrics, forecasting, and big data analysis.

Successful candidates are expected to publish in top-quality journals and present at top conferences. They are also expected to offer technical advice to junior researchers based on their expertise, and communicate research findings effectively to senior policymakers to maximise the impact of their research on policy.

Candidates must hold a PhD in economics, finance, or other disciplines relevant to central bank policymaking, have a minimum of three years of post-PhD research experience in academic or policymaking institutions, and are a recognised researcher in their area of expertise with a track record of publications.

More information about research at the Bank and how to apply can be found at https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/careers/early-careers/our-programmes.
