Full Text of JOE Listing:

Tenure-track faculty opening at the Assistant Professor level in Accounting commencing in 2021

Applicants should have completed (or nearly completed) a Ph.D. in accounting, economics, financial economics, or a related discipline. We are particularly interested in candidates who do theory-based empirical and experimental research or applied theory with empirical implications in fields relevant to accounting such as information economics, banking, industrial organization and organizational economics. Candidates should have a demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching. Teaching assignments may span undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. Programs.

The Accounting group at Tepper is interdisciplinary and collaborative, including faculty members with backgrounds in accounting, economics, and finance. Our strengths lie in applied accounting theory, corporate finance, empirical IO, financial intermediation, managerial economics, and market micro-structure. Methodologically we place a strong emphasis on combining theory with empirical methods such as causal identification, structural estimation, textual analysis, machine learning, and randomized controlled trials.

We are at the frontier of accounting research aiming to address changing business needs due to rapid advancements in technology and the ubiquity of data by leveraging novel research approaches. The Tepper School and Carnegie Mellon University are ideally positioned to promote this innovation because of campus-wide collaborative strengths at the intersection of business, technology and analytics.
