The Financial Stability Unit at the Central Bank of Chile, part of the Division of Financial Policy, is seeking to fill the position of Head of Unit/Financial Stability Manager. Preferred areas of expertise include banking and financial markets, legal and regulatory framework of the Chilean financial system and financial stability.

The job’s main responsibility is to lead the financial stability team and orient the financial stability agenda for the Unit associated with the Financial Policy discussions of the Central Bank, advising the Head of the Division of Financial Policy in the formulation and evaluation of policies, regulations and other initiatives aimed at promoting the efficient and save development of the national financial system and the capital market.

Other duties involve participating and being responsible for the elaboration of the Financial Stability Report and representing the Central Bank of Chile in technical commissions of international and national financial institutions that address issues of financial stability.

The Financial Stability Unit´s main function is the evaluation, prioritization and monitoring of relevant risks for the financial stability of the Chilean economy and the normal functioning of internal and external payments. Thus, semi-annually it is responsible for preparing the Financial Stability Report and coordinating the analysis required for its preparation. In this context, the Unit develops analyzes, investigations and reports on matters related to financial stability, and perform financial system stress testing.

Candidates must have a PhD in Economics or Finance, knowledge of local and international financial markets and post-doctoral experience in financial research.
