Full Text of JOE Listing:
The FDA seeks economists (GS-12 level) to join the Office of Economics and Analysis in the Office of the Commissioner. Our staff is responsible for economic analyses of human and animal drugs, medical and radiological devices, biological products, tobacco, and food safety and nutrition. This position requires U.S. citizenship. Our offices are located just outside of Washington DC. We offer workplace flexibility and a family-friendly environment.
Economists on our staff evaluate the benefits and costs of FDA regulations; perform quantitative, statistical, and risk analyses; and conduct mission-oriented independent research. This position requires creativity, the ability to make use of scarce data, an interest in public health policy, and the ability to explain fundamental and advanced economic concepts to non-economists. Ideal candidates demonstrate an ability to conduct applied economic analyses, efficiently manage multiple projects, effectively communicate in presentations and writing, and work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. We welcome all candidates with expertise in applied microeconomics or regulatory economics. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually in early January.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, a CV, transcripts, three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, and a 200-400-word statement of interest by December 1, 2020. Send questions to: EconomicsRecruiting@ .
