The Department of Economics at the School of Law and Economics of the University of Mannheim invites applications to fill the position of

Professor of Empirical Economic Research and Econometrics (W3)

starting as soon as possible.

The professor represents the fields of empirical economic research and econometrics in research and teaching. The University of Mannheim particularly welcomes applications from candidates with a research focus on applied empirical economics, for example on labor economics, education economics, development economics or health economics. The professor is expected to teach doctoral candidates at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics of the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences and to raise external funding.

The conditions for an appointment are stipulated in section 47 of the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHG). Applicants are requested to provide proof of a higher education degree, pedagogical aptitude, a doctorate and additional academic achievements proven by a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements from within or outside of the higher education sector.

The position is permanent. If the candidate is appointed as a professor for the first time, the employment agreement may provide for a probation period of three years in accordance with the applicable laws of the Land of Baden-Württemberg and the respective agreement on conditions of appointment.

The University of Mannheim places great importance on comprehensive guidance of its students and therefore expects professors to be present at the university for their students. Moreover, the University of Mannheim expects a new faculty member to relocate to Mannheim or the greater area in order to become an active member of the university community.
