The Center for Indian Country Development (CICD) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis seeks to hire an economist with a strong interest in policy-relevant data analysis focused on economic development in American Indian and Alaska Native reservations and tribal communities. The Economist will contribute research and analysis on policy topics relevant to American Indian and Alaska Native reservations and communities. In part, this entails writing working papers for CICD, with further publication in economics research journals welcomed. The Economist will play a key role in setting the overall research agenda for CICD, helping commission and coordinate research authored by external researchers on topics related to CICD’s priorities.

The position requires a Masters’ degree in Economics or a closely related field, though a Ph.D. is preferred. Knowledge of Indian Country economic research, institutions, and economic development issues is strongly preferred. In addition, the candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey the key findings and policy relevance of scholarly research to non-economists. Experience working with nonacademic stakeholders, writing for nonacademic audiences, or working with community development or Indian Country organizations is preferred.
