Applicants for this position must have a PhD in Economics, or expect to have this degree by the start of employment. We are interested in early career scholars in particular, although more advanced candidates will be considered. Candidates are expected to work well in an interdisciplinary, international environment with English as the language of instruction and operation. The successful candidate will teach courses in the School’s Master, Executive Master, and PhD programmes. Collaboration with new centres of competence of the Hertie School is encouraged. Those are the Jacques Delors Centre Berlin, the Centre for International Security, the Centre for Fundamental Rights, the Centre for Sustainability, the Centre for Digital Governance, and the Data Science Lab.

As a private university, the Hertie School offers an internationally competitive salary as well as a paid sabbatical after every five semesters. We provide excellent working conditions with outstanding financial and administrative support for research. The Hertie School is fully embedded in Berlin’s vibrant research landscape and has close ties to the top institutions of the European and international teaching and research community as well as to the policy world.
