The Department of Economics at the University of Wyoming invites nominations and applications for the Associate Director

CBEA Mission
The CBEA supports the economic growth and diversification of Wyoming’s economy through applied economic and business analytics for communities, industries and entrepreneurs. Our mission is to: provide professional economic insight about Wyoming; undertake economic impact assessments; conduct specialized analyses, studies and projects, including guidance for investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs; and study and disseminate population demographic and workforce conditions to support regional development. The CBEA will be the trusted destination resource for information about Wyoming’s economy, empower robust economic growth and diversification, serve as a bridge of engagement between the University of Wyoming and the broader state community, and be recognized nationally as a premier organization amongst its peers.

Expectations
The Associate Director will manage projects for the CBEA. The successful candidate will also work with the Director to develop UW Economic Outlook Conferences around Wyoming and communicate regularly with local economic development groups. Responsibilities also include: continuing development and marketing of the Center; assisting government agencies and firms with analysis of local, state, and national business and economic conditions; interacting with local, state, and national media with respect to economic conditions and policies in the region; executing economic impact projects and other specialized projects; and all other related duties as assigned. Fulfilling these responsibilities may require occasional travel to meet with clients and travel throughout Wyoming to assist the Director with presentations or attended events.

Requirements
This position requires a master’s degree or higher in Economics or related field. A PhD is preferred, but candidates with a master’s degree and the appropriate level of experience will be considered. Successful applicants will possess excellent communication and applied research skills. Applicants should have a documented ability to effectively communicate verbally and orally to diverse audiences about complex topics involving data, and prior experience working cooperatively with government agencies and private industry. The position requires explicit knowledge of standard econometric software, such as R, Python, and Stata. Knowledge of and experience with software for economic impact analyses, such as IMPLAN or REMI, is a plus. Knowledge of Wyoming’s economy and the energy industry is also desired. Salary and start-up package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants should provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least three references who would be contacted after discussion with the candidate. The University of Wyoming is committed to diversity and endorses principles of affirmative action. Inclusiveness and diversity are critical to the success of the College of Business and University as a whole. Members of under-represented groups are especially invited to apply.
