LSE Fellow in Economics and Public Policy

Salary from £36,647 to £44,140 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £47,456 pa inclusive of London allowance.

This is a fixed term appointment for two years with the option to renew for a third year by mutual agreement.

The LSE School of Public Policy equips students with the skills and ideas to transform people and societies. We are an international community where ideas and practice meet, creating professionals with the ability to analyse, understand and resolve the challenges of contemporary governance.

We are now recruiting a LSE Fellow to contribute to the postgraduate teaching of the School of Public Policy. An LSE Fellow is a career development post which allows aspiring academics who are post PhD, or close to PhD completion, the opportunity to gain experience in teaching and research.

The post-holder will contribute to the teaching of seminars/classes in the field of economics, quantitative approaches to policy-making and/or specialist areas of applied economics relevant to public policy. The post-holder will also play a key role in supporting the provision of a rich and engaging learning environment for our high-calibre and high fee-paying students. The post-holder will join LSE’s world-leading and vibrant research community in the social sciences. Faculty of the School of Public Policy will ensure the integration of the post-holder into that research community, in which s/he will be expected to play a full part.

Candidates should hold, or be demonstrably close to the completion of, a PhD in the field of economics or quantitative approaches to public policy. They will require excellent written and oral communication skills preferably with some relevant teaching experience. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate an ability to foster an engaging and supportive learning environment.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities. For further information about the post, please see the how to apply document, job description and the person specification.

The role is available from 01 September 2020 and it is expected that the successful candidate will take up the post on that date or very shortly thereafter.

An LSE Fellowship is intended to be an entry route to an academic career and is deemed by the School to be a career development position. It is essentially a post-Doc position with which the LSE attracts aspiring and talented early stage academics who are not yet ready to take on career track academic positions. As such, applicants who have already been employed as a LSE Fellow for three years in total are not eligible to apply. If you have any queries about this please contact the HR Division.

To apply for this post, please go to www.lse.ac.uk/LSEJobs. If you have any technical queries with applying on the online system, please use the “contact us” links at the bottom of the LSE Jobs page. Should you have any queries about the role, please email Paul Sullivan, the Department Manager, on p.sullivan@lse.ac.uk

The closing date for receipt of applications is 24 May 2020 (23.59 UK time). Regrettably, we are unable to accept any late applications.
