The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Economics. Specific field or expertise is open for this position.

The department is a growing academic unit with excellent prospects whose goal is to excel in economic learning and research. The department currently offers a wide range of courses leading to B.Soc.Sc, M.Soc.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Faculty members actively engage in research with particular focus on macroeconomic and microeconomic theories, public economics, financial economics, econometrics, and economic growth. The department is highly recognized among universities in the region, evident by some recent ranking exercises. Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in economics or an equivalent discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience, and a demonstrable record of excellence in teaching at university level. While applicants must be fluent in English, ability to speak Chinese may be considered an asset, though it is not a prerequisite for the appointment.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in mid-August 2020.

Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,300) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
