Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Applied Behavioral Science (ABS) team at Sam’s Club/Walmart is looking for a senior economist. We are an interdisciplinary team of behavioral scientists, data scientist, and economists who collaborate to solve some of the most impactful and difficult business problems.

Responsibilities:
Develop appropriate economic/econometric method to answer product and business problems;
Run field experiments to validate economic models;
Identify and consolidate insight from economic research to help improve business processes;
Assess collaboration opportunities and potential business impact.

Minimum qualifications:
3+ years of applied economic experience post Ph.D;
Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Quantitative Marketing, or other closely related field;
Expertise in economic modeling or econometrics;
Familiarity with R, Python, Stata, or Matlab;
Feeling comfortable modeling and solving ambiguous problems.

Preferable Qualifications:
Experience in explaining economic models to business and incorporating feedback into modeling;
Experience working with large-scale database systems (e.g. Hive Teradata, DB2);
Sound business judgement with attention to both big picture and details;
Politically savvy to navigate through a large and complex corporate environment;
Experience training junior economists.
