The new Center for Analytical Approaches to Social Innovation (CAASI) at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellow. Candidate should have a strong background in mathematical modeling and be passionate about improving social service delivery with a PhD in microeconomics, CS or similar fields by July 2020. Knowledge of computational, empirical, or experimental methods is highly valued. The position is partly funded by the NSF and will involve designing an innovative transit market.
The center aims to connect mathematical social science to social services. Current activities include hosting the 2020 NBER NSF/CEME Decentralization conference (Mechanism Design for Vulnerable Populations) and organizing interdisciplinary market design reading groups (Economics, AI, and Policy). We support research projects with worker unions, nonprofits serving the incarcerated, human services hotlines (211), and collaborations with Pittsburgh Experimental Economics Lab, School of Social Work, School of Computing and Information, and MD4SG.
