The Department of Economics of Bowdoin College invites applications for a tenure-track position in open economy macroeconomics starting July 1, 2020. Hiring for this position is expected to be at the rank of assistant professor or instructor, although there is the possibility of hiring at a more senior level for exceptional candidates. Ph.D. in hand by date of appointment is preferred; advanced ABDs will be considered.

The teaching load is two courses per semester. Successful candidate will be expected to teach Principles and Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory regularly as well as courses related to their research. We are especially interested in being able to offer courses that can be cross-listed with Asian Studies such that we especially encourage candidates with an interest in Asian markets to apply.

Bowdoin requires a strong commitment to research and a promise of long-term successful scholarly engagement as well as a dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment. To support continued professional engagement, the College offers, monetary support for professional engagement, a fully-funded year-long sabbatical leave after three years of teaching and successful reappointment, and regular post-tenure sabbaticals generously funded. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2019. We plan to conduct initial interviews at the ASSA meetings.
