The Economics Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications in any area of economics for a tenure-track position at the assistant-professor level. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for high-quality research and teaching. Duties will include research, teaching, and service. We will consider applicants with and without professional experience beyond graduate school. To be hired in at the Assistant Professor position, a completed Ph.D. in Economics is required by 1 July 2020. An initial appointment of Instructor is applied to a successful candidate who expects to complete the Ph.D. by 1 July 2021.

The application should include a cover letter, CV (that explicitly states fields of specialization), statements of research and teaching interests, and three letters of recommendation. (Finalists for the positions will be asked to provide a fourth letter of recommendation at a later stage of the search.) The applicant should provide a job-market paper and can include other representative research papers. Applicants can include a statement detailing contributions to diversity, including research interests and participation in mentoring/diversity activities.
