The Economics Department at Colby College invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor starting September 1, 2020.

We are searching for early career economists with a potential for excellence in teaching and research with a field in labor economics or macroeconomics. Candidates with other primary fields, but research interests related to labor or macroeconomics are strongly encouraged to apply. We seek candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community at Colby through their scholarship, teaching, mentorship and service. We are looking for candidates that can engage and support students from different cultural, demographic, and socio-economic backgrounds. We especially encourage applications from underrepresented groups in economics.

Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Central Maine with high standards for teaching and research. Our students are motivated, intellectually curious, and easily engaged in the classroom and in independent research. The teaching load is 4.5 courses per year, with a reduced load for new Ph.D.s in their first two years.

Our review of completed applications will begin on November 15, 2019 and continue until the positions are filled. To be considered for an interview at the 2020 ASSA meetings in San Diego, your application dossier must include: a cover letter that describes your motivation for applying to Colby and includes an outline of your research agenda and how a liberal arts environment dedicated to diversity and inclusion aligns with your teaching philosophy; your curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; a representative sample of your research; your graduate transcript; and evidence of classroom teaching effectiveness. Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. prior to September 1, 2020.
