The Department of Economics in the Sam M Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the field of macroeconomics beginning in Fall 2020. Applicants with a background in empirical macroeconomics, machine learning and big data techniques will receive preference. In addition to competitive compensation, the college provides resources including start-up packages and excellent technical support.
Required Qualifications: (1) A doctoral degree in economics with a field in macroeconomics; (2) the potential to produce high quality academic research in leading journals and secure external research funding; (3) a commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants are expected to have earned a Ph.D. in economics by August 17, 2020.
Preferred Qualifications: (1) Experience with large scale (empirical) application of macro models using micro data; (2) Experience with Machine Learning, Big Data, High Performance Computing; (3) Research focus that overlaps with one or more of the following fields: international trade, economic development and growth, behavioral and experimental economics. These areas complement the current faculty’s teaching and research interests.
