Position Announcement

Title: Assistant/Associate Professor, Economics of Agricultural Marketing

Description: The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics seeks to fill a tenure-track position in agricultural marketing. Applications are encouraged from individuals with specialization in one or more of the following: commodity marketing; commodity futures and options markets; agricultural price analysis; agricultural risk management.

Responsibilities: The person filling this position will be expected to: (1) develop a nationally recognized research program in agricultural marketing, with particular attention to topics related to the use, pricing behavior, and performance of commodity futures and options markets, (2) collaborate with other faculty and staff in the Office of Futures and Options Research (OFOR), (3) communicate the research results to both peer and non-peer audiences, (4) teach undergraduate/ graduate (two classes per year) classes in agricultural marketing, futures and options markets, agricultural price analysis, agricultural risk management. The position will also have opportunities to contribute to the Department’s comprehensive and award-winning farmdoc extension outreach program (http://farmdoc.illinois.edu/).

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, or related fields.

Department: The mission of the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics is to improve the economic and environmental well-being of producers, consumers, and families by drawing on faculty expertise in economics, business, and law. The Department has about 30 faculty members, 650 undergraduate students and 80 graduate students.

Salary/Appointment: Competitive; based on qualifications and rank; 9-month academic year; tenure track; research/ teaching.
